A Day in Strunjan Nature Park – Hiking, Swimming & Relaxing
May 2025 – by admin – in Stories
Morning on the Marina Pearl
The day begins peacefully on the houseboat. The sun reflects on the water, coffee is steaming – time for a trip into nature. Destination: Strunjan Nature Park, a stretch of untouched Adriatic coastline – nestled between salt pans, cliffs, and Mediterranean vegetation.
Getting there by bus – convenient & stress-free
From the marina, it’s just a short walk to the Lucija TPC bus stop. From there, bus line 2 or 3 takes us directly to the Strunjan križišče stop – the starting point of our hike. No parking hassle, no detours – just a smooth start to a relaxing day.
Hiking through Strunjan Nature Park
We follow the well-marked trails past the old salt pans, where sea salt is still harvested using traditional methods. The air is crisp and filled with the scent of thyme and rosemary. A nature trail leads us to the dramatic flysch cliffs, which drop steeply into the sea and open up a wide view over the Adriatic.
Moon Bay – a hidden paradise
Next, we reach Mesečev zaliv, or Moon Bay. This secluded cove with its clear water is a special place – quiet, pristine, and completely natural. Those looking to swim can slip into the water, go snorkeling, or simply relax on the pebble beach.
Good to know:
The descent is steep and rocky – sturdy footwear is a must. And: anyone visiting Moon Bay should respect its beauty. No trash, no music, no trace left behind.
Especially outside the main season, in spring or late autumn, this place reveals an almost magical serenity. Often deserted, the bay becomes the perfect place to truly disconnect.
Wellness with a sea view – the Thalasso Strunjan Spa
After the hike or a swim, there’s a special way to unwind: a visit to the Thalasso Spa Strunjan, located right above the coastline. Here, you’ll find seawater pools, saunas, massages, and treatments using salt and algae – all in harmony with the surroundings. If you wish, you can simply drift and give your body some well-deserved care.
Dining by the water
To wrap up the day, a visit to Restaurant Pinija is a must – offering direct views of the sea and the Cape of Piran. Fresh fish, Strunjan mussels, Neapolitan pizza, or a dessert made with regional fruits – the cuisine is honest and excellent.
Return to the Marina Pearl
Just a few steps from the restaurant lies the Strunjan križišče bus stop. From here, we head back to Lucija – and within minutes, we’re back aboard the Marina Pearl.
The sunset reflects in the harbor waters, shoulders are tired, the mind is clear. A day that lingers.
